Constitutional Council

There shall be a Constitutional Council consisting of the PM (Chair), Chief Justice, Speaker of HoR, Chairperson of National Assembly, Opposition Leader in HoR, and Deputy PM.

The Constitutional Council is the most powerful appointment body in Nepal. It recommends appointments to ALL major constitutional bodies: Chief Justice, CIAA chief, Election Commissioner, Auditor General, PSC chair, NHRC chair, and others. PM chairs it, giving PM enormous influence over supposedly independent bodies.

संवैधानिक परिषद्: प्रधानमन्त्री (अध्यक्ष), प्रधानन्यायाधीश, सभामुख, राष्ट्रिय सभा अध्यक्ष, विपक्षी नेता र उपप्रधानमन्त्री।
