💡Highlight any phrase below and we'll explain what it means.
Original Text
Every person shall have the freedom to profess, practice and protect his or her religion according to conviction. No person shall be forced to convert from one religion to another.
💡 Plain Language Explanation
You can practice any religion freely. No one can force you to convert - including state, family, or society. Religious denominations can run their own institutions. But Nepal remains legally secular (no state religion).
✅ Good Aspects
Protects minority religions (Christian, Muslim, Buddhist) in historically Hindu-dominated society.
⚠️ Concerns
Anti-conversion laws are vague and have been used to prosecute Christian missionaries and minority communities.
