Right to Freedom of Religion

💡Highlight any phrase below and we'll explain what it means.
Original Text

Every person shall have the freedom to profess, practice, and protect their religion. No person shall convert another from one religion to another or attempt to disturb religion.

💡 Plain Language Explanation

You can follow any religion freely. But Nepal has a unique twist: forced conversion is banned. This means aggressive proselytizing is illegal — protecting minority religions while also preventing forced conversion.

Good Aspects

Protects all religious communities equally in a historically Hindu nation.

⚠️ Concerns

Anti-conversion clause is vague and has been used to target Christian communities.
