Party Registration
Political parties must be registered with the Election Commission. Registration requires: a democratic constitution, inclusive membership, financial transparency, and commitment to multiparty democracy.
To officially exist, a political party must register with the Election Commission. Requirements: (1) a written party constitution with democratic rules, (2) open membership not restricted by caste/religion/ethnicity alone, (3) at least 33% women in party executive, (4) commitment to multiparty democracy. RSP was registered on July 1, 2022 and met all these requirements. Unregistered parties cannot contest elections.
