Vacation of Seat
An HoR member\'s seat becomes vacant upon: resignation, disqualification, death, absence for 30 consecutive days without leave, party expulsion, or if convicted of moral turpitude.
An MP loses their seat if they: (1) resign, (2) die, (3) skip Parliament for 30 straight days without permission, (4) get expelled from their party, (5) get convicted of a criminal offence. The 30-day absence rule ensures MPs actually show up to work. Party expulsion triggering vacancy is the anti-defection provision — cross the floor, lose your seat.
राजीनामा, मृत्यु, ३० दिन अनुपस्थिति, दल निष्कासन, वा दोषसिद्धि भएमा पद रिक्त।
Anti-defection and attendance rules enforce party discipline and parliamentary attendance.
Party leaders can weaponize expulsion threats to silence dissenting MPs.
