Qualifications for HoR Members
To be a member of the HoR, a person must be a citizen of Nepal, at least 25 years old, not convicted of a criminal offence involving moral turpitude, not disqualified by law, and not holding a government office of profit.
Want to become an MP? You need: (1) Nepali citizenship, (2) age 25+, (3) no criminal conviction for moral turpitude, (4) no disqualification under law, (5) not holding a paid government job. This means civil servants, judges, and military personnel must resign before running. The age bar at 25 keeps Parliament relatively experienced.
प्रतिनिधि सभा सदस्य हुन: नेपाली नागरिक, २५+ वर्ष, नैतिक पतनमा दोषी नभएको, सरकारी पदमा नरहेको।
Clear eligibility criteria prevent unqualified or conflicted candidates.
Age 25 minimum excludes young leaders; \'moral turpitude\' is vaguely defined.
