💡Highlight any phrase below and we'll explain what it means.
Original Text

No person shall be subjected to any form of untouchability or discrimination in any private or public place on grounds of caste. Such act shall be punishable and the victim shall be entitled to compensation.

💡 Plain Language Explanation

Untouchability is a CRIME in Nepal. If anyone refuses you entry, service, or dignity because of your caste, they can be prosecuted. You can claim compensation. This applies in temples, restaurants, public spaces — everywhere.

🇳🇵 नेपाली व्याख्या

छुवाछूत र जातीय भेदभाव अपराध हो। यस्तो कार्यमा सजाय र पीडितलाई क्षतिपूर्ति।

Good Aspects

Constitutional criminalization of untouchability — strongest in South Asia.

⚠️ Concerns

Deep-rooted caste discrimination persists, especially in rural Madhesh and western hills. Enforcement is weak.
