Armed Police Force
The Armed Police Force shall maintain border security and internal security. It functions under the direction of the Home Ministry and is distinct from both Nepal Army and Nepal Police.
The Armed Police Force (APF) is Nepal\'s paramilitary force — think of it as the middle ground between regular police and the army. Their jobs: border security (especially the India and China borders), VIP protection, industrial security, and riot control. They\'re under the Home Ministry, not the Defense Ministry. Nepal has three security forces: Army (defense), APF (borders/internal security), Police (law enforcement).

Clear separation of security functions prevents any single force from becoming too powerful.
Overlap between APF and police functions creates confusion and inter-agency rivalry.
