Nepal Army

The Nepal Army shall be organized, trained, and equipped for the defense of Nepal\'s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity. It functions under civilian control through the Council of Ministers.

The Nepal Army\'s constitutional mandate: defend the nation\'s borders and sovereignty. Key rule: the army is under CIVILIAN control — the Council of Ministers (not generals) makes strategic decisions. The President is the Supreme Commander, but acts on the PM\'s advice. The army cannot engage in politics, business, or domestic policing (that\'s the police\'s job). This civilian control was hard-won after decades of royal and military power.
