NHRC Formation
The NHRC consists of a Chairperson and 4 members appointed by the President on recommendation of the Constitutional Council. Must include at least 1 woman. Term: 6 years, non-renewable.
The NHRC has 5 members (Chair + 4), appointed by the Constitutional Council for 6-year non-renewable terms. At least one must be a woman. Members must have distinguished records in human rights, law, or social justice. The Chairperson must be a former Chief Justice or Supreme Court judge, or someone with equivalent human rights experience.
