Electoral Operations

The ECN may deploy security forces for election purposes, use government staff, and requisition government facilities. All government bodies must cooperate with the ECN during elections.

During elections, the ECN becomes the most powerful body in Nepal: it can requisition government buildings for polling, deploy security forces to polling stations, commandeer government vehicles, and order any government employee to assist. All government bodies — from the PM\'s office to the smallest ward — MUST cooperate. This operational authority is what makes elections physically possible across Nepal\'s challenging geography.
