EC Independence
The Election Commission shall be independent and shall not be subject to the direction of any other body. No government shall interfere with its functions.
The constitution explicitly bars ANY government body — PM, ministers, Parliament — from directing or interfering with the ECN. The ECN makes its own decisions on election timing, candidate eligibility, code of conduct enforcement, and result certification. This independence is why Nepal\'s elections are generally considered credible by international observers.
