गैरआवासीय नागरिकता
💡Highlight any phrase below and we'll explain what it means.
Original Text

Non-residential citizenship may be granted to persons who have acquired foreign citizenship but who, or whose parents/grandparents, were previously citizens of Nepal by descent.

💡 Plain Language Explanation

Diaspora Nepalis who took foreign citizenship can get a special "non-resident Nepali" status - allowing economic, social, and cultural rights (but not voting or political rights). This benefits the 5+ million Nepalis abroad.

🇳🇵 नेपाली व्याख्या

विदेशी नागरिकता लिएका तर नेपाली मूलका व्यक्तिलाई गैरआवासीय नागरिकता दिन सकिन्छ।

Good Aspects

Allows diaspora to invest and engage with Nepal economically.

⚠️ Concerns

Non-resident citizenship restricted to non-SAARC countries - excludes huge Nepali diaspora in India.
