Local Assembly Meetings

स्थानीय सभा बैठक
💡Highlight any phrase below and we'll explain what it means.
Original Text

The Village Assembly or Municipal Assembly shall meet at least twice a year. Special meetings may be called when required.

💡 Plain Language Explanation

Your local government (municipality or rural municipality) must hold assembly meetings at least twice a year — once for the budget and once for review. The mayor/chair calls meetings. Ward representatives, Dalit and women members all attend. This is the closest democracy gets to your doorstep — decisions about your local roads, water, schools happen here.

🇳🇵 नेपाली व्याख्या

गाउँ सभा वा नगर सभा वर्षमा कम्तीमा दुई पटक बस्नुपर्छ। नगरपालिका/गाउँपालिका प्रमुखले बोलाउँछन्।

Good Aspects

Regular meetings ensure elected ward representatives have a voice in local governance.

⚠️ Concerns

Meetings are often dominated by the mayor\'s party; meaningful deliberation is rare in many local bodies.
