Appointment of Attorney General
The President appoints the Attorney General on recommendation of the Prime Minister. The AG must have qualifications equivalent to a Supreme Court judge — 15+ years as Senior Advocate or equivalent legal experience.
The PM picks the Attorney General and the President formally appoints them. To qualify, you need the same credentials as a Supreme Court judge — at least 15 years as a Senior Advocate. This ensures Nepal\'s top government lawyer is genuinely experienced, not just politically connected. But since the PM chooses, independence is always questioned.
