SC Judges Not to Hold Other Office

अन्य पद धारण नगर्ने
💡Highlight any phrase below and we'll explain what it means.
Original Text

No CJ or SC judge shall be engaged in or deputed to any office other than that of judge, except for judicial inquiry or research with Judicial Council consultation.

💡 Plain Language Explanation

SC judges cannot moonlight — no side jobs, no government commissions, no board memberships. The ONLY exception: they can be deputed for judicial inquiry or legal research, but even that requires Judicial Council approval. This keeps judges focused solely on justice.

🇳🇵 नेपाली व्याख्या

सर्वोच्च अदालतका न्यायाधीशले न्यायाधीश बाहेक अन्य पद धारण गर्न पाउँदैनन्।

Good Aspects

Prevents conflicts of interest and dual loyalties.

⚠️ Concerns

In practice, retired judges often take government commissions — the spirit of separation is weaker post-retirement.
