This Constitution may be cited as "Constitution of Nepal". It shall commence on 20 September 2015 (3rd day of Ashwin 2072 BS).

The Constitution officially came into force on September 20, 2015 - the same day it was promulgated by the Constituent Assembly. This day is celebrated as Constitution Day in Nepal (Ashwin 3). The 2007 Interim Constitution was simultaneously repealed.
