Appointment of Auditor General
The President appoints the Auditor General on recommendation of the Constitutional Council. The AG must have at least 20 years experience in accounting, auditing, or financial management. Term: 6 years, non-renewable.
The Auditor General is Nepal\'s chief financial watchdog — they audit EVERY rupee the government spends. Appointed by the Constitutional Council for a single 6-year term (no reappointment, to prevent currying favor). They need 20+ years of audit/finance experience. The AG answers to no minister — they report directly to the President, who tables the report in Parliament.
महालेखापरीक्षक — सरकारी खर्चको लेखापरीक्षण गर्ने। संवैधानिक परिषद्को सिफारिसमा नियुक्त। ६ वर्ष, गैर-नवीकरणीय।
Single non-renewable term prevents the AG from becoming subservient to the appointing government.
Constitutional Council appointment means political influence in selecting the watchdog.
