Introduction of Bills in Province

Original Text

Any member of the Provincial Assembly may introduce a Bill. Financial Bills require the recommendation of the Provincial Government.

💡 Plain Language Explanation

Any provincial assembly member can propose a new law. But financial bills (taxes, spending) need the provincial government\'s recommendation first — you can\'t just propose tax hikes without executive backing. Provincial bills follow a similar path to federal ones: introduction, committee review, debate, vote, Governor\'s assent.

✅ Strengths

Empowers individual provincial legislators to propose laws.

⚠️ Concerns

Private member bills rarely pass — the CM\'s party controls the legislative agenda.
